I changed mine at 280,000 it needed doingI wonder how many of the listed TDIs are still working with the original balance shaft chain?
At least I can confirm that mine is still with the original chain, 259000 miles so far.

Not sure which bearings you mean but yes the chain had worn through the plastic and was rubbing on the metal.Hi steveb,
Was the chain scraping the metal below the plastic guide or the case when you replaced it? Would you recomend another manteinace job during the replacement of the chain? I was told that this 1.4 TDIs have usually some play in the axial bushings in the cranckshaft with this mileage.
Kind regards.
I mean the crankshaft endplay thrust bearings. Not sure which bearings you mean but yes the chain had worn through the plastic and was rubbing on the metal.
The most challenging part of the job in my opinion is the crankcase oil seal which you need to have a protective sleeve over the crankshaft to fit
299,970 & it failed the mot on Saturday so off the road at the moment whilst I gather the needed parts & do some spannering. 😭All mileages updated. Sorry to have neglected the list. Seems to be a high proportion of TDI 75's in this list.
Are we talking about 299.970 kilometers or miles??299,970 & it failed the mot on Saturday so off the road at the moment whilst I gather the needed parts & do some spannering. 😭

Wow, that is awesome mate! I wonder if that might be the highest A2 in the UK?Miles
Nope, not even half of it - have a look at the first post in this thread, but I understand that @Imola Yellow is now well over the 600k mark. Although the car is on its second engine now, the first one got to around 350k and from my understanding, only died because an Audi dealer killed it during some maintenance. We've seen a few over the 300k mark.Wow, that is awesome mate! I wonder if that might be the highest A2 in the UK?
